This breed has been a large part of my life journey. At a young age I convinced my parents to take me to a dog show at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh and I fell in love with the beauty of the purebred dog. I admire the variety and how the structure of each breed had a specific purpose. Over the years my dog interests have been intertwined with all aspects of my life and family. Behind everything my dogs keep me calm and grounded. Their love and adoration is comforting. No matter what kind of day you have had, they put a smile on your face and any stress dissappears.
As an artist I find myself often choosing to groom rather than draw or paint. It is living sculpture. I feel amazing after the process is complete. To take a scruffy dog and transform it is very satisfying and like molding a work of art.
My husband and I live in a rural area of central Pennsylvania. Our children live in the local area and are now on their own. This has given me time to return to my desire to breed, show and train these wonderful toy poodles.
Over the years we have finished a few AKC champions with limited showing. In the mid 1980's, we finished 1 Standard Poodle Champion and 1 Toy Poodle Canadian Champion with the help of handlers. Since 2008, we now have 5 AKC Toy Poodle Champions with 3 of these being homebred. In 2011 our Lily has given us 2 Grand Champions and 1 Champion.
I have shown my own dogs in AKC shows but have found it more enjoyable to send a dog with a handler. Since 2008 it has been my pleasure to have Kaz Hosaka and his staff caring for my show dogs and seeing them to their Championship titles. His expertise and kindness with the dogs is so greatly appreciated.
I have also shown a select few dogs in United Kennel Club Shows. The UKC however, does not allow the use of professional handlers. In 2007 I started showing in that system. To date I have 5 UKC champions, 3 of which were on the top 10 list for 2008.
New puppies are exciting even though we may only have a litter a year. Every litter is a planned attempt to improve on the parents. Also with every litter born is the hope of my next dog for the show ring.
The joy of new owners as the young pups join new families is also very gratifying.
I remain available to help in any way for you and your new family member.
